Measuring performance

How will you know if your website is good enough, or if it’s worth the money you spent on it? To answer that, we need to measure who’s arriving at your website, how they got there, and what they do while they’re there.

To answer these sorts of questions (and many more), we use software called analytics, and in most cases, we use Google Analytics, which is the industry-leader for good reason. It’s incredibly powerful and flexible, and it’s free.

How does it work?

Google Analytics tracks the activity of every visitor to your site (anonymously, to protect their privacy), and shows you this data in the form of numbers and charts. Here are some examples:

The tricky thing about analytics is: There’s just so much information, it’s super hard to know what to look at; what to care about!

So, how do we get it?

That’s why you need a professional to guide you through the process. They will set up dashboards so you can visually see the changes in the behaviour of your site’s visitors, and they’ll help you make decisions about what to do next; where to spend your time and money to get the most out of your website.

At Touchdreams, we’re website design and development experts, but we’re not analytics experts, so we will be happy to put you in touch with the right freelancer or agency for your needs and budget. Get in touch so we can discuss who you should hire for this critical service.
